Leadership Coaching

Leadership coaching to support a non-profit founder build their core competencies and action plan to launch their organization.

Context

1

The founder had a deeply personal motivation to start a first-of-its-kind organization and subject-matter expertise, but was navigating the early stages alone. They were looking for organizational development expertise coupled with thought partnership through coaching to help bring out ideas and structure them into plans.

Our approach

2

We partnered with the founder through one-on-one leadership coaching focused on core nonprofit leadereship competencies, including articulation of core strategies and resulting program development. Coaching sessions combined reflection with practical tools, translating the founder’s ideas into actionable next steps and outputs.

Key outcomes

3

The founder’s self-assurance grew alongside their clarity, allowing them to articulate their organizational purpose, make leadership decisions more decisively, and form aligned partnerships. Through coaching, they built a clear action plan for their first year of operations and the confidence to move from concept to launch.

What we learned

4

Setting aside time and space in leadership coaching sessions for founders to reflect deeply on mission, vision, and values — aka the strategic core — pays dividends in the long-term as it sets the foundation for everything else that follows: operational plans, theories of change, logic models, grant writing, program design, and beyond.
